BNB Chain Flips Solana in DeFi TVL as CZ Notes Long Road to Ethereum

BNB (BNB) Editor: Eugene Serbin

u.today reports that BNB Chain has surpassed Solana in total value locked within its decentralized finance ecosystem. On-chain data indicates BNB Chain reached $5.94 billion in DeFi TVL as of September 14, 2026. This milestone pushes Solana down to third place with $5.89 billion in locked value.

Ethereum remains the clear leader with approximately $49.95 billion in TVL. Base and Tron occupy the fourth and fifth positions with $5.63 billion and $5.47 billion respectively. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao acknowledged BNB Chain's outperformance against Solana.

However, he highlighted the significant gap between BNB Chain and Ethereum's dominance. Zhao described the path to flipping Ethereum as a long road. He emphasized that these rankings should drive further ecosystem development rather than serve as a direct competition.

BNB is trading at $716.41 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 48.6%, indicating a near-even split between buyers and sellers. The 1-hour buy ratio sits lower at 39.2%, suggesting that immediate buying pressure is weaker than the broader daily trend. Volume delta is negative across all timeframes, with -$889,093 in the last hour and -$2,183,558 over four hours. This negative delta means that sell volume has exceeded buy volume, pushing the price down despite the balanced buy ratio. The 24-hour volume delta is -$1,523,101, confirming that sellers have been in control of the net flow over the day.

The latest daily buy ratio of 46.4% sits at the 18th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.2% - weaker buying than most days.
