BNB Chain pitches onchain yield at RWA Summit

BNB (BNB) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptobriefing.com reports that BNB Chain presented its strategy for real-world asset yield at the Real-World Asset Summit in Brooklyn. Held from September 1-2, 2026, the event featured Thomas Chen, Head of Commercial for BNB Chain, who argued for making tokenized assets productive rather than idle. The network currently hosts $5.67 billion in distributed real-world asset value, including institutional products like Circle’s USYC.

Of this total, approximately $1.5 billion is locked in lending protocols, generating additional yields while serving as collateral. Chen’s panels focused on onchain credit infrastructure and yield optimization to address capital inefficiency in DeFi. This approach aims to collapse the tradeoff between posting collateral and deploying assets productively.

The vision is for programmable collateral to become the default standard in the ecosystem. While $5.67 billion represents a meaningful foothold, the key metric is how much value is actively deployed. Roughly a quarter of the chain's RWA value is already being put to productive use.
