Upbit ends BONK trading support on September 7

Bonk (BONK) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptocurrency.com.tr reports that Upbit is ceasing support for BONK trading on Monday, removing one of the two major South Korean exchanges for the Solana meme coin. The exchange will remove the BONK/KRW and BONK/USDT pairs at 15:00 KST on September 7, 2026, resulting in the cancellation of open orders. While Upbit exits, its rival Bithumb continues to support the token.

Withdrawals for BONK will remain available until October 7. This move impacts Korean traders, as the OECD’s Asia Capital Markets Report 2026 notes that Korea and India saw the highest absolute inflow of crypto-assets in Asia in the 12 months leading to June 2025. Upbit and Bithumb had previously placed BONK under a “trading caution” designation on July 7.

Bithumb’s notification cited a security incident with an unknown or unresolved cause. It also noted uncertainty regarding whether significant information had been disclosed in a timely manner. The end of trading marks a shift in liquidity access for Korean investors holding the asset.
