Ethena Pay delays US, UK, and Europe launch to late September
cryptobriefing.com reports that Ethena Pay plans to launch in the US, UK, and Europe within three to four weeks. The self-custodial neobank app began its beta across 48 countries on September 1, initially skipping Western markets to meet regulatory requirements. Founder and CEO Guy Young stated during a Sept. 14 Unchained interview that geographic expansion is the team’s top priority.
He indicated that the US, Europe, the UK, and parts of Asia including Taiwan are expected to come online in roughly three to four weeks. This timeline is later than the company's previous guidance, which listed US and EU support as features expected in September. The expansion schedule partly depends on card partners Third National and Rain, who issue and manage the Visa card.
Ethena Pay remains in a gated beta, with Young confirming the company is intentionally expanding the product gradually. The jurisdictions page currently lists the US, EU, UK, Switzerland, Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea as coming soon without specific dates. Young noted that the US is not among the company’s five highest priority markets over the longer term. He pointed instead to South America and Asia as regions where Ethena already has a significant user base.
