CZ Welcomes Hyperliquid Competition as HYPE Trades Near $92

Hyperliquid (HYPE) Editor: Eugene Serbin

lookonchain.com reports that Binance founder Changpeng Zhao stated he does not oppose Hyperliquid and welcomes more decentralized exchanges to compete. Speaking on the "When Shift Happens" podcast, Zhao noted the crypto industry is far from saturated, with crypto assets held by only 5% to 15% of the global population. He observed that when measured as a share of individual wealth, penetration is less than 1%, indicating the sector remains in its early stages.

Zhao viewed community members criticizing centralized exchanges as normal competition and welcomed former U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent mention of Hyperliquid as a positive development. He cited examples like Google and Facebook to illustrate that first movers do not always become the biggest long-term winners. Zhao emphasized that he prioritizes driving the growth of the entire crypto industry rather than focusing solely on expanding Binance.

He noted that assets including HYPE, BNB, and Bitcoin are poised to benefit from the sector’s overall growth. Despite holding large stakes in Binance and significant BNB holdings, centralized exchanges represent only a portion of his asset allocation.
