ICP hosts web pages on-chain as LayerZero releases Akita

Internet Computer (ICP) Editor: Eugene Serbin

bsc.news reports that DFINITY's Internet Computer now serves HTML, CSS, and JavaScript directly from on-chain canisters, allowing decentralized apps to run entirely without traditional web servers. Canisters act as digital containers holding code and data, enabling computers to share information without central intermediaries like AWS or Google Cloud. The routing layer uses HTTP gateways to translate browser requests into IC API calls, while boundary nodes forward these to replica nodes on specific subnets.

A subnet certificate requiring two-thirds node agreement ensures responses are verified by network consensus, preventing rogue nodes from altering content. Sites can also use raw domains, though the official documentation warns this skips signature checks and is less secure. In other news, LayerZero published Akita, a lattice-based polynomial commitment scheme designed to replace quantum-vulnerable elliptic-curve cryptography in zero-knowledge proving systems.

Akita's first deployment is inside Jolt, the zkVM built with a16z crypto to power the Zero chain. Injective Protocol has crossed 3.06 billion cumulative transactions, processing 42.8 million in the last 30 days. Visa is linking VisaNet settlement data with blockchain lending infrastructure, with over 160 programs live and payment volume up nearly 200% year over year.

LayerZero also secured both SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 accreditations across its cross-chain messaging infrastructure. Dominic Williams confirmed that Multi/Dex finance's insurance fund mechanics are working as intended on the Internet Computer.

ICP is trading at $2.94 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 49.6%, indicating a near-even split between buyers and sellers in the short term. The 4-hour buy ratio sits at 52.3%, showing a slight tilt toward buying pressure over a slightly longer timeframe, while the 24-hour ratio drops to 47.8%, suggesting a broader trend of selling dominance over the day. Volume delta reflects this divergence, with a positive $37,774 over 4 hours contrasting sharply with a negative $2,167 over 1 hour and a significant -$553,723 over 24 hours. This indicates that while there was recent accumulation, the overall daily flow is net outflow. The Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) for the 24-hour close is +$45,966, showing that despite the negative delta, total buy volume slightly exceeded sell volume at the close. Net buying occurred for 9 of the 24 hours, with spot volume reaching $12,415,026 across 93,112 trades.

The latest daily buy ratio of 49.0% sits at the 46th percentile of the last 324 days, against a median of 49.2% - ordinary for this coin.
