Whales Buy $3B BTC as Analysts Warn of Pullback

JUST (JST) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Cryptopotato.com reports that Bitcoin’s recent rally from under $65,000 to over $81,000 shifted market sentiment from fear to greed. Despite this surge, analysts point to failed breakouts at $81,000 and a hawkish stance from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh as reasons for caution. On-chain data from Santiment Intelligence shows whales accumulated roughly $3 billion in Bitcoin over the past week.

This activity includes adding more than 39,150 BTC in just seven days, according to analyst Ali Martinez. Martinez argues that this whale-driven accumulation, alongside $920 million in ETF inflows, fueled the rally. In contrast, retail investors appear to be selling while large participants continue to buy.

Following Warsh’s speech at Jackson Hole, doubts remain about whether the bear market is truly over. Rekt Capital warned that BTC’s real test begins after the strong weekly close. Crypto Haris presented a bearish scenario, predicting a drop to $74,000 before falling further to $67,000. Haris believes the price will eventually fall to $62,000 before pumping to $90,000.

JST is trading at $0.09777 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 49.3%, indicating near-even distribution between buyers and sellers. However, shorter-term data shows weakening momentum, with the 1-hour buy ratio at just 13.0% and the 4-hour ratio at 20.4%. Volume deltas reflect this imbalance, showing net selling of -$135,647 in the last hour and -$208,457 over four hours. Over the full day, the volume delta is -$22,828, with cumulative selling pressure reaching -$628,182 by close. This suggests that while buying occurred throughout the day, selling pressure intensified significantly in the final hours. The data indicates that buyers are losing control as the session progresses, with only 10 hours of net buying recorded out of 24.

The latest daily buy ratio of 35.2% sits at the 0th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 52.2% - among the weakest buying days it has had.

Over the preceding week, JST averaged a 49.4% buy ratio, making today’s 49.3% reading almost identical to the weekly norm. Trading volume was notably lower than usual, registering at just 0.48 times the daily average. This reduced activity coincided with a 6.7% price decline over eight days and a total volume delta of -$589,655. Today’s volume contraction suggests a lack of conviction compared to the broader weekly trend. While the buy ratio remains stable, the significantly lower volume points to a quiet, indecisive trading day for the asset.
