Grayscale files to move LTCN to NYSE Arca

Litecoin (LTC) Editor: Eugene Serbin

ambcrypto.com reports that Grayscale filed an amendment on September 11 to rename its Litecoin Trust to the Grayscale Litecoin Trust ETF while retaining the LTCN ticker. The proposed move to the NYSE Arca aims to create a more streamlined investment structure that allows for the creation and redemption of shares in baskets. This mechanism is expected to reduce price gaps between the trust and its underlying Litecoin holdings, thereby improving liquidity.

As of June 30, the trust held $82.3 million in assets and 1.97 million Litecoin across 24.25 million shares outstanding. Historically, LTCN traded with significant premiums or discounts, reaching a high of 5,893% and a low discount of 67%. A national exchange listing could help align the current price of LTCN more closely with its underlying value.

The trust already has an established investor base, which provides a stronger foundation than the smaller Canary product, LTCC. However, regulatory approval and the actual listing on NYSE Arca are still required before the conversion can occur. If cleared, the change would increase accessibility for investors seeking regulated exposure to Litecoin. Ultimately, rising flows would confirm new demand, while weak flows would suggest the move merely improves liquidity for existing holders.

Whalio spot data shows Litecoin trading at $53.67 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 45.9%, indicating a slight bearish tilt over the full day. In contrast, the 4-hour buy ratio stands at 54.1%, suggesting that buying pressure has built up in the short term compared to the longer daily view. The 1-hour buy ratio is lower at 44.3%, showing that immediate momentum is currently favoring sellers. Volume delta data reflects this mixed sentiment, with a positive $183,856 delta over 4 hours offsetting a negative $61,341 delta in the last hour. Over the full 24 hours, the volume delta is -$546,772, and the cumulative volume delta (CVD) closed at -$567,320, indicating net selling pressure. This means that despite short-term buying interest, the overall flow for the day has been dominated by sell-side volume.

The 24-hour spot volume of $6,594,644 is only 0.27 times the 7-day average volume, marking this as an unusually quiet day for Litecoin. Additionally, the 24-hour buy ratio of 45.9% is 3.8 points lower than the 7-day average buy ratio of 49.6%, indicating reduced buying interest relative to recent norms. Over the past eight days, the price has declined by 1.9%, with only 3 of the 7 days showing net buying.
