Litecoin ETF Holdings Hit Record as Leverage Surges to Near Peak
cryptocurrency.com.tr reports that Litecoin has reached an eight-month high, driven by rising institutional and speculative demand. US spot Litecoin ETF balances tracked by Glassnode have hit a record of approximately 175,000 LTC. Canary Capital's LTCC contributed significantly to this total, adding roughly 39,000 LTC in its largest inflow to date.
Since January, these holdings have nearly doubled. However, derivatives data indicates that leverage, rather than spot buying, is the primary driver of this rally. Futures open interest climbed to around $670 million, approaching its yearly peak of roughly $690 million set in January.
This open interest added about $140 million in just two days and has more than doubled since the June low. Measured in LTC, open interest grew by roughly 25% over the past week, confirming that traders are actively opening new positions. The last time leverage reached these levels in January, the price rolled over from above $80 and subsequently dropped to around $53.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for LTC, measured when this story was written up on 25 September 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
Litecoin is currently trading at $71.95 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 50.7%, indicating a near-even split between buyers and sellers. The 1-hour buy ratio stands at 50.3%, while the 4-hour ratio is slightly lower at 48.5%, suggesting that short-term buying pressure is stabilizing rather than accelerating. Volume delta shows a positive net flow of +$2,278,458 over the last day, contrasting with a negative delta of -$434,054 over the past four hours. This divergence implies that while cumulative buying has exceeded selling over the full day, recent hourly activity has seen more selling than buying. The cumulative volume delta for the 24-hour close is -$1,450,125, indicating that despite the positive volume delta, the net price impact has been slightly negative. Net buying occurred for 12 out of the last 24 hours, showing intermittent but not consistent aggressive buying.
The latest daily buy ratio of 44.9% sits at the 4th percentile of the last 323 days, against a median of 49.3% - among the weakest buying days it has had.
Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for LTC, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
Over the preceding week, the average buy ratio was 50.9%, making the current 24-hour ratio of 50.7% nearly identical to the weekly trend. Spot volume has surged to 4.42 times the average, signaling an unusual level of activity compared to typical days. The total volume delta for the eight-day period was +$6,273,670, reflecting substantial net buying over the longer timeframe. Price increased by 33.4% over eight days, driven by this elevated volume. While the recent 4-hour delta was negative, the broader weekly context remains firmly in net buying territory.
