Pump.fun shifts to Holder Rewards, sunsets Cashback mode

Pump.fun (PUMP) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Cryptobriefing.com reports that Pump.fun is overhauling its fee distribution system on September 12, 2026. The Solana memecoin launchpad is introducing a new Holder Rewards token type while deprecating Cashback mode for new launches. Instead of routing fees to creators or active traders, the system now funnels trading fees into a dedicated distribution wallet.

These fees are paid out to token holders multiple times per hour based on their holdings. The previous Cashback mode, introduced in February 2026, was criticized for disproportionately benefiting creators of high-volume tokens with inactive teams. Under the new rules, creators choose between a standard Creator Fee token or a Holder Rewards token for new projects.

Existing tokens can convert to the new structure if they meet specific criteria, but the change is permanent. A minimum holding threshold of $20 appears required to maximize rewards under this new distribution mechanic.
