Ripple Adds XRP and RLUSD to Stripe and Tempo AI Payments
CoinGape reports that Ripple has integrated XRP and the RLUSD stablecoin into Stripe and Tempo’s Machine Payments Protocol for AI agent transactions. This development allows AI agents to automate payments for data, computing, and other online services using these assets. Jazzi Cooper, Ripple’s head of product at RippleX, announced that the XRPL AI Starter Kit now supports the Machine Payment Protocol, following earlier integration with Coinbase’s x402 payment protocol.
The kit enables developers to build agentic payment applications on the XRP Ledger, making XRP and RLUSD first-class options for builders. Jesse Cooper noted that agentic payments will be multi-platform and multi-rail, aiming to place these assets wherever developers build. Ripple joined the x402 Foundation alongside Coinbase, Circle, AWS, Google, Mastercard, Stripe, and Visa.
Ripple also serves as a launch partner for Mastercard Agent Pay for Machines. The XRP Ledger 3.3.0 upgrade introduced Permission Delegation, allowing institutions to grant limited authority to other accounts without exposing full control. XRP Ledger is now a supported settlement option in Tempo and Stripe's protocol via the new starter kit. Payments stream over native Payment Channels and settle in one transaction with deterministic finality.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for RLUSD, measured when this story was written up on 17 September 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
RLUSD is trading at $1.00 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 70.0%, indicating strong immediate buying pressure compared to the 49.2% ratio over the past 4 hours. This short-term surge is reflected in a positive 1-hour volume delta of +$395,209, contrasting with a negative delta of -$120,314 over the 4-hour window. Over the last 24 hours, the buy ratio settles at 43.2%, and the volume delta is -$12,461,527, showing that net selling has outweighed buying over the longer term. The cumulative volume delta (CVD) for the 24-hour period closed at -$5,517,009, confirming that sellers dominated the day's flow. Spot volume reached $91,733,925 with 6,845 trades, while net buying occurred for only 8 of the 24 hours. The data suggests that while there was a brief spike in buying interest, the overall trend for the day was characterized by net outflows.
The latest daily buy ratio of 39.6% sits at the 19th percentile of the last 267 days, against a median of 52.6% - weaker buying than most days.
Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for RLUSD, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
Over the preceding week, the average buy ratio was 51.1%, making the current day's 24-hour ratio of 43.2% notably lower by 7.8 points. Trading volume was 1.48 times the weekly average, indicating significantly higher activity than usual despite the lower buy ratio. The coin experienced net buying on only 3 of the 7 days, with a total volume delta of -$14,644,672 for the period. Price remained flat with a 0.0% change over the 8-day window, suggesting the increased volume did not drive a price increase. This day appears unusual due to the elevated volume relative to the average, even though the buying sentiment was weaker than the weekly norm.
