THORChain activates Zcash pool ahead of trading launch

THORChain (RUNE) Editor: Eugene Serbin

crypto.news reports that THORChain launched its Zcash (ZEC) liquidity pool on October 2 following a completed node churn. Every active node is now monitoring the Zcash chain, though native ZEC trading remains the next step to be activated. The protocol warned that liquidity is shallow during this early stage and urged traders to exercise caution.

THORChain described the venue as permissionless, noting that liquidity will grow over time. The network added Zcash UTXO handling, RPC logic, and ZEC oracle support through 2026 protocol upgrades. Developers corrected ZEC network-fee reporting and solvency calculations after previous implementations inflated gas tolerance.

A September fix addressed signing inconsistencies by tying transaction expiry to an agreed ZEC height. The launch follows months of code work, including address validation and dust threshold configurations. Bitget-linked wallets recently swapped roughly $6.3 million in ETH for Bitcoin through the network. This activity occurred after Bitget reported unauthorized transfers linked to a September breach.
