Standard Chartered Forecasts 5x Rally for SKY Token by 2028

Sky (SKY) Editor: Eugene Serbin

coingape.com reports that Standard Chartered predicts a fivefold rally for the Sky token (SKY), projecting a price of $0.325 by 2028. The bank attributes this growth to broader adoption of the USDS stablecoin and increased onchain lending driven by traditional finance demand. Geoff Kendrick, global head of digital assets research at Standard Chartered, stated that value will flow to holders primarily through staking rewards rather than token buybacks.

Kendrick compared Sky, formerly MakerDAO, to a federal bank that issues stablecoins and charges wholesale interest rates. Sky is currently the third-largest stablecoin issuer after Tether and Circle, and the largest issuer of yield-bearing stablecoins. DeFiLlama data shows sUSDS total value locked at approximately $4.5 billion with a 3.6% annualized yield.

The bank projects the overall stablecoin market could reach $2 trillion by the end of 2028. Standard Chartered also forecasts Ethereum to reach $18,000 and Bitcoin to hit $300,000 by 2028. They claim SKY will roughly track Ethereum and outperform Bitcoin through that period. Visa recently combined settlement data with onchain lending to unlock credit opportunities for stablecoin-linked card programs.
