Starknet launches Shieldnet privacy framework for 45 assets

Starknet (STRK) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Cryptobriefing.com reports that Starknet has deployed Shieldnet, a zero-knowledge privacy system supporting 45 ERC-20 assets via the STRK20 framework. This infrastructure allows users to transact without revealing sender, receiver, or amount details by converting tokens into encrypted notes. Unlike mixers such as Tornado Cash, Shieldnet enables selective disclosure for regulatory compliance using encrypted viewing keys.

The system supports shielded transactions within DeFi protocols like AVNU and Ekubo, with integration available through wallets including Xverse and Ready X. Technical groundwork was established with the SHINOBI/v0.14.2 upgrade on April 21, 2026. The first asset, strkBTC, launched on May 12, 2026, followed by USDC in June. The full implementation covering all 45 assets was completed by June 9, 2026.

Early metrics show the privacy pool has processed over 14,000 deposit transactions. Total value locked reached approximately $350K shortly after the launch.
