USD1 Stablecoin Launches on Canton Network

cvj.ai reports that World Liberty Financial has launched its USD1 stablecoin natively on the Canton Network, addressing the settlement gap in tokenized finance. The network, which processes over $9 trillion in monthly tokenized assets and $350 billion in daily onchain U.S. Treasury repo, now has the currency to settle these transactions. USD1 enters the ecosystem with a market capitalization of approximately $4.05 billion, making it the sixth-largest stablecoin.

It is issued by BitGo Bank & Trust, N.A., a federally regulated trust authorized by the OCC. This issuance is supported by preliminary conditional approval granted on August 14, 2026, for the World Liberty Trust Company. The launch enables atomic settlement via the CIP-56 token standard and the Global Synchronizer.

WLFI co-founder Zak Folkman stated that institutions have put trillions in US Treasuries onchain, but the dollar leg of settlements still runs on outdated infrastructure. Digital Asset co-founder Eric Saraniecki noted that deep markets need choice on both sides of a transaction. Despite this utility, USD1 faces concentration risk, with Binance wallets holding approximately 84% of the circulating supply. The project also carries political dimensions, having raised approximately $590 million since its 2024 founding.
