VeChain Interstellar Hard Fork Activates on Mainnet

VeChain (VET) Editor: Eugene Serbin

nulltx.com reports that VeChainThor’s Interstellar upgrade is now live on mainnet, activating at block height 25,902,540 around 11:15 UTC. This event marks the third and final phase of the network's Renaissance overhaul, which began in mid-2025. The upgrade bundles 11 Ethereum Improvement Proposals into a single release, bringing the execution layer in line with Ethereum’s Cancun, Prague, and Osaka features.

Previously operating at a Shanghai-era baseline, VeChainThor now closes the gap with current Ethereum standards. The protocol explicitly states this is not a token event, meaning there is no token migration, wallet swap, or change to VET supply or staking mechanics. For everyday holders, the upgrade is invisible and requires no action, though validators and node operators had to update their Thor clients.

Interstellar follows the Galactica and Hayabusa forks, shifting the chain from proprietary tooling toward a permissionless, EVM-equivalent network. The goal is to reduce custom infrastructure friction for builders already using standard Ethereum libraries. While the technical upgrade is a compatibility improvement, it coincided with a 77.33% month-over-month price surge to $0.007979. The real test now shifts to whether developers actually deploy on the network in the coming months.

Whalio’s Binance spot data shows VET trading at $0.007070, with a 1-hour buy ratio of 41.8% and a 4-hour buy ratio of 57.1%. The 24-hour buy ratio sits at 49.7%, indicating that short-term selling pressure has intensified compared to the broader recent trend. Volume Delta reflects this shift, showing a net outflow of -$43,757 in the last hour against a net inflow of +$52,863 over the past four hours. The Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) for the 24-hour close remains positive at +$86,747, suggesting that while recent hours saw more selling, the overall daily flow was still net buying. This pattern indicates that immediate buying pressure is fading as the price settles lower than the reported $0.007979 peak.

The latest daily buy ratio of 46.7% sits at the 13th percentile of the last 324 days, against a median of 50.2% - weaker buying than most days.

Over the preceding week, VET experienced a 12.3% price decline, with spot volume dropping to 0.57x the average daily level. The 7-day average buy ratio was 50.8%, slightly higher than the current 24-hour reading of 49.7%, showing a marginal shift toward balanced or slightly bearish sentiment. Net buying occurred on 5 of the last 7 days, with a total Volume Delta of +$373,592 over that period. Compared to the weekly average, the latest day shows a 1.2 percentage point drop in the buy ratio, signaling a cooling of interest. This volume contraction and ratio drop suggest the recent activation did not sustain the high-volume buying seen in previous weeks.
