Wormhole hits $70B volume as BlackRock and Apollo adopt protocol

Wormhole (W) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptobriefing.com reports that Wormhole has processed over $70 billion in cumulative cross-chain volume and one billion messages across 40 blockchains. The protocol, which supports both EVM and non-EVM networks, saw $17.6 billion in volume during 2025 alone. A single integration partner, Mayan protocol, contributed more than $16 billion of that annual figure through cross-chain swaps.

The one billion messages represent discrete communications such as asset transfers and governance signals, validated by a Guardian network of 19 validators requiring a 13-of-19 quorum. More than 100 tokens with a combined market cap exceeding $170 billion have launched using the Native Token Transfers standard, known as NTT. This standard allows projects to issue canonical multichain tokens that maintain supply integrity across chains.

Major financial institutions including BlackRock, Apollo Global, VanEck, and Ripple are listed as users leveraging the infrastructure for tokenized assets and stablecoin initiatives. The NTT standard solves fragmented liquidity by ensuring a single authoritative version of a token exists natively on multiple chains. Wormhole has maintained reliability without a major security incident, distinguishing it from other bridges that have suffered exploits. The protocol has announced integrations with Monad and Fogo, with plans to extend support to Cardano.
