Winklevoss Twins Pitch Low-Fee Spot Zcash ETF at Token2049

Zcash (ZEC) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptobriefing.com reports that Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss proposed a spot Zcash ETF during their appearance at Token2049 in Singapore. The fund, issued by Winklevoss Asset Services, filed a preliminary S-1 registration statement with the SEC on October 6, 2026. It would list on Nasdaq under the ticker WINK and hold ZEC directly in cold storage via affiliate Gemini Trust Company.

A key differentiator is the fee structure, which is significantly lower than Grayscale’s existing ZCSH product that charges 2.5%. Tyler Winklevoss highlighted the growing importance of privacy in digital assets while presenting the proposal. Cypherpunk Technologies is named as the Zcash Ecosystem Partner to assist with protocol information and voting.

The Winklevoss Capital Fund has expressed non-binding interest in purchasing up to $100 million in shares post-launch. This marks the third US filing for a spot Zcash ETF, following Grayscale’s launch on August 25, 2026. The twins, early adopters of Zcash, aim to leverage their existing custody infrastructure to compete in the market.

Whalio’s Binance spot data for ZEC shows a price of $1,327.98 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 51.7%, indicating a slight majority of buyers over sellers. However, the 1-hour buy ratio is higher at 54.9%, while the 4-hour ratio drops to 46.2%, suggesting that recent buying pressure is fading compared to the broader daily trend. The 24-hour volume delta is positive at +$5,681,494, meaning more money flowed into buys than sells over the day. In contrast, the 4-hour volume delta is negative at -$1,347,400, reflecting a short-term shift toward net selling. The cumulative volume delta (CVD) for the day closed at +$3,959,652, confirming that net buying activity dominated the 24-hour period despite the recent dip.

The latest daily buy ratio of 52.9% sits at the 82nd percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 50.2% - stronger buying than most days.
