BDACS selects LayerZero for KRW1 stablecoin cross-chain expansion

LayerZero (ZRO) Editor: Eugene Serbin

bitcoinethereumnews.com reports that BDACS has chosen LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token standard to unify its KRW1 stablecoin across multiple blockchains. As South Korea’s largest digital asset custodian, BDACS aims to reduce friction caused by separate deployments on networks like Ethereum, Avalanche, and Circle’s Arc. The new system maintains a single KRW1 supply, debiting the source chain and crediting the destination chain during transfers, with LayerZero’s Stargate application handling the movement.

This structure mirrors the infrastructure used by Tether’s USDT0, PayPal USD, and Paxos-issued USDG. LayerZero noted that its OFT standard currently facilitates 87% of cross-chain transfer volume and has processed $280 billion in lifetime transfers. BDACS CEO Harry Ryoo stated that the value of a Korean won stablecoin lies in its global scalability and that this technical foundation supports flexible use across several blockchains.

KRW1 was initially launched on Avalanche in September 2025 after a proof of concept with Woori Bank, with each token backed 1:1 by Korean won held at the bank. The issuer later expanded to Arc in October 2025 and Polygon in December 2025. BDACS retains control over the token while gaining the ability to add new chains without creating isolated versions. The company holds SOC 1 and ISO 27001 certifications and surpassed 80 billion won in assets under custody during the first half of 2026.

ZRO is trading at $1.14 on Binance spot markets, with a 24-hour buy ratio of 48.0% indicating a near-even split between buyers and sellers. The 1-hour buy ratio has risen to 55.1%, suggesting a short-term shift toward buying pressure, while the 4-hour ratio sits lower at 41.1%. Volume delta data shows a positive $35,063 inflow in the last hour, contrasting with a negative $123,901 outflow over the past four hours. This indicates that recent trading activity has seen more aggressive buying than selling in the immediate term, reversing the broader 24-hour trend where cumulative volume delta closed at -$586,746. Over the preceding week, ZRO experienced a 10.6% price increase, yet the 7-day average buy ratio remained neutral at 50.0%. Today’s 24-hour buy ratio of 48.0% is 2.1 percentage points below that weekly average, indicating a slightly more balanced or seller-leaning day compared to the recent trend. Spot volume for the day reached $5,974,070, which is 0.97 times the weekly average, showing trading activity is roughly in line with normal levels. Despite the price gain, the 8-day total volume delta was negative at -$778,679, meaning sellers dominated the volume over the longer period. This suggests that while the price rose, the underlying flow has been net negative for the week, with only 2 of the past 7 days showing net buying.
