Wyoming Stable Token Commission Migrates FRNT from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP

LayerZero (ZRO) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Cryptobriefing.com reports that the Wyoming Stable Token Commission has replaced LayerZero with Chainlink CCIP for its FRNT stable token. This decision follows a security review triggered by the $292 million KelpDAO exploit involving DPRK affiliated attackers. The agency found repeated operational failures at LayerZero Labs, including issues with access controls and private key management.

Specifically, LayerZero failed to transfer a production authorization and did not maintain proper control of a critical private key tied to a live FRNT deployment. The Commission concluded that LayerZero no longer met the security standards required for infrastructure supporting a state-backed digital asset. It noted that the protocol placed too much responsibility on individual developers and could leave deployments dependent on a small verifier set.

Consequently, the agency selected Chainlink Cross Chain Interoperability Protocol as FRNT’s exclusive cross-chain infrastructure. The Commission cited Chainlink’s decentralized network of independent node operators, rate limits, and direct issuer control as key factors. It also highlighted CCIP’s use of Chainlink’s decentralized oracle infrastructure, which has remained operational through major market disruptions and cloud outages. This migration marks a shift toward stricter security standards for government-backed digital assets in the United States.
