20,000 ETH Moved From Bitfinex To Aave Address
Coinlive.me reported that on-chain monitoring service Whale Alert flagged a transfer of 20,000 ETH from Bitfinex to an address attributed to Aave on October 3, 2026 at 14:06:47 UTC. The transaction, valued at 53,573,068 USD at the time of transfer, moved funds from Bitfinex's hot wallet to recipient address 0xed0c6079229e2d407672a117c22b62064f4a4312. Etherscan confirmed the successful completion of this move from the sender address tagged as Bitfinex: Hot Wallet.
Aave is a decentralized lending protocol where users can supply assets to earn yield or post collateral to borrow against. The report notes that such a transfer could precede a supply action, a collateral deposit, or simply a custody change. However, the on-chain record alone does not establish which of these intents is correct.
Aave’s Pool contract exposes liquidity-management methods including supply and withdraw, meaning the destination wallet has multiple options available. Whether the ETH was subsequently deposited into the protocol is not established by the transfer transaction itself. Investors should treat the intent as unconfirmed until subsequent transactions show an Aave supply() call or collateral deposit. If the ETH remains idle, the transfer is more consistent with a custody or operational move.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for AAVE, measured when this story was written up on 4 October 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
Whalio data shows AAVE trading at $181.57 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 54.4% and a 4-hour buy ratio of 56.8%, indicating short-term buying pressure. This contrasts with the 24-hour buy ratio of 45.2%, suggesting that recent buying intensity has outpaced the longer-term trend. The 1-hour volume delta is positive at +$29,790, while the 4-hour delta is +$163,154, showing net inflows in the immediate term. Conversely, the 24-hour volume delta is -$2,320,092, indicating that net selling has dominated over the full day. The buy ratio measures the proportion of buy volume relative to total volume, while volume delta tracks the net value of buys minus sells. These figures suggest that while short-term traders are accumulating, the broader daily flow remains net negative.
The latest daily buy ratio of 52.3% sits at the 82nd percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.8% - stronger buying than most days.
Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for AAVE, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
Over the preceding week, AAVE saw a 7-day average buy ratio of 50.3%, with the latest day showing a 5.2-point drop from that average. Volume was 0.63x the weekly average, indicating lighter trading activity compared to the norm. The coin experienced a price change of +16.7% over 8 days, with a total volume delta of -$324,145. This day is unusual in that the buy ratio fell below the weekly average, and volume was significantly lower than usual. While the 8-day delta was negative, the recent 1-hour and 4-hour positive deltas suggest a temporary shift in momentum against the weekly trend.
