Aave V4 Proposal Targets Anchorage Custodied Bitcoin Loans

Aave (AAVE) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Coinlive.me reports that Aave Labs published an ARFC on September 14, 2026, proposing Aave V4 loans against Bitcoin held in Anchorage custody. The design creates an isolated Hub and Spoke structure, allowing institutions to borrow stablecoins against BTC pledged in Anchorage's custody. Anchorage holds the underlying collateral throughout the loan lifecycle as the borrower’s counterparty under an Account Control Agreement.

A Custodied Collateral Token (CoCT) serves as an internal accounting unit, minted or burned by Chainlink-designed CustodySync to reconcile custody records. CoCT is a transfer-restricted ERC-20 that is not a tradable claim on BTC, carrying no direct claim on the asset. The proposal sets a permanent CoCT draw cap of zero, ensuring collateral receipt tokens cannot be borrowed out.

Liquidation would utilize an Anchorage OTC collateral sale, settling through an atomic transaction that repays debt and burns CoCT. Final risk terms and governance approval remain pending, meaning the loans are not yet available to borrowers. Bitcoin traded near $75,823, down 2.35% over 24 hours, as the proposal makes no causal claim on price. Governance approval requires community feedback, a Snapshot vote, and an onchain AIP if sentiment is positive.
