Cardano ADA Rises 4.8% Ahead of RealFi Stablecoin Launch

Cardano (ADA) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Cardano’s ADA token rose 4.8% to $0.2214 on September 6, adding approximately $382 million to its implied market value in 24 hours, according to ts2.tech. This gain nearly matches the $64.1 million dollar-stablecoin base currently on the network, highlighting the scale of the upcoming test for on-chain liquidity. RealFi announced a targeted October 1 mainnet launch for its new stablecoin product, following a seven-figure mint observed in August.

The project’s investment team began purchasing reserve assets as the mint crossed seven figures, a move John O’Connor described as the “hardening phase.” While the broader crypto market rose, ADA outpaced Bitcoin’s 0.5% gain and Ether’s 2.5% rise during the same window. DeFiLlama data shows $22.1 million of stablecoins are minted natively on Cardano, while $42.1 million are bridged, meaning native supply accounts for 34.4% of the total. RealFi’s unstaked product will focus on liquid assets like tokenized money-market funds, while the staked version may hold private credit. The team’s internal stress tests indicated that liquid assets covered historical redemption runs only after the portfolio passed an undisclosed “critical size.”

As of 05:55 UTC on September 6, ADA trades at $0.2183 on Binance spot markets. The 1-hour buy ratio sits at 47.2%, while the 4-hour ratio is slightly higher at 50.6%, compared to a 24-hour ratio of 48.7%. Volume delta reflects this balance, showing a net outflow of $95,441 in the last hour and a net inflow of $55,321 over the past four hours. Over the full 24-hour period, the volume delta is -$838,220, with a cumulative volume delta of -$468,461 at the close. These metrics indicate that selling pressure has slightly outweighed buying pressure over the longer timeframe, despite the recent price rally. The buy ratio measures the proportion of trades executed by buyers versus sellers, while volume delta tracks the net value of those trades.

The latest daily buy ratio of 45.6% sits at the 5th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.2% - among the weakest buying days it has had.

Over the preceding week, ADA’s average buy ratio was 48.2%, with the latest day showing a marginal increase of 0.6 percentage points. Spot volume for the 24-hour period was 1.24 times the weekly average, indicating heightened activity. However, the 8-day volume delta total was -$4,502,381, suggesting that despite the price increase of 8.2%, net selling has dominated the week. Only two of the past seven days saw net buying, contrasting with the current day’s mixed but slightly more balanced short-term flows. This suggests the recent price action has not yet translated into sustained net accumulation over the longer term.
