SecondFI Recovers Cardano Assets After June Exploit
ambcrypto.com reports that SecondFI has developed an asset recovery tool following a $2 million exploit of Cardano wallets in June. The neofinance platform is using a staged approach to ensure the mechanism is secure before public release. SecondFI identified that the breach stemmed from a deterministic nonce derivation flaw in its software signer, which allowed attackers to reconstruct private keys from public data.
To verify the recovery technology, the company hired zkSecurity to audit its proof-tool repository on August 3, 2026. This system uses zero-knowledge proofs to let users prove wallet control without revealing seed phrases or private keys. zkSecurity found two high-severity issues in upstream code, which SecondFI has since fixed and confirmed as resolved. Two low-severity issues remain open but are considered not practically exploitable. The tool is expected to launch in the coming weeks, pending the final audit of the recovery smart contract.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for ADA, measured when this story was written up on 15 September 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
ADA is trading at $0.2086 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 49.7%, indicating a near-even split between buyers and sellers. The one-hour buy ratio sits at 47.6%, showing slightly weaker immediate buying pressure compared to the longer-term 48.6% four-hour reading. Volume delta is negative across all timeframes, with -$72,021 in the last hour and -$159,220 over the past day. This negative delta means sell volume has exceeded buy volume, pushing the cumulative volume delta to -$202,910 by the 24-hour close. Net buying occurred for only 12 of the last 24 hours, suggesting a lack of sustained aggressive accumulation.
The latest daily buy ratio of 45.6% sits at the 5th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.2% - among the weakest buying days it has had.
Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for ADA, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
Over the preceding week, ADA experienced a 5.4% price decline with a total volume delta of -$6,112,113. Today's 24-hour buy ratio of 49.7% is marginally higher than the weekly average of 48.8%, showing a slight uptick in buying interest. However, spot volume remains subdued at 0.92 times the weekly average, indicating lower-than-normal trading activity. Net buying days have been scarce, with only two days of net buying recorded over the last seven days. This suggests the current market activity is consistent with a broader period of consolidation and mild bearish sentiment.
