Aptos launches MonoMove with 55x speed boost

Aptos (APT) Editor: Eugene Serbin

lookonchain.com reports that Aptos Labs has launched MonoMove, described as the largest proposed upgrade to the Aptos blockchain execution engine. Internal testing indicates the new engine runs smart contracts up to 55 times faster than the current system. This performance places Aptos among the fastest production-ready blockchains, directly impacting the volume of activities the network can support.

On Decibel, Aptos's incubated fully on-chain trading platform, collateral withdrawal speed improved by up to 55 times. Order placement speed on the same platform increased by up to 22 times. Smart contracts automatically execute functions like trade matching and collateral transfers when predefined conditions are met.

All on-chain financial operations rely on these contracts, making engine speed a critical determinant of network capability. Aptos Labs highlighted these metrics to demonstrate the upgrade's impact on on-chain market efficiency.

APT is trading at $0.8260 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 41.7%, indicating immediate selling pressure. However, the 4-hour buy ratio stands at 53.0%, suggesting that buying interest is building over a slightly longer timeframe compared to the last hour. The 24-hour buy ratio is 46.1%, showing that over the full day, sellers have held a slight edge. Volume delta reflects this dynamic, with a positive $119,374 over 4 hours contrasting against a negative $13,559 in the last hour. Over 24 hours, the volume delta is -$924,234, meaning more capital flowed out than in during that period. CVD at the 24-hour close matches this outflow at -$924,234. Net buying occurred for 11 of the last 24 hours, but the overall volume delta remains negative.

The latest daily buy ratio of 51.2% sits at the 79th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.3% - stronger buying than most days.

Over the preceding week, the 7-day average buy ratio was 48.2%, making the current 24-hour ratio of 46.1% slightly lower by 2.1 points. Spot volume over the last day was $12,018,373, which is 1.18 times the weekly average, indicating elevated activity. While volume is higher than usual, net buying days were limited to just 1 of the last 7 days. The 8-day volume delta total was -$4,394,918, showing a consistent outflow trend over the longer period. This suggests that despite increased trading volume, the coin has seen more days of net selling than buying recently.
