CryptoQuant flags $83,000 as key bull market confirmation for Bitcoin

Bitcoin (BTC) Editor: Eugene Serbin

digitaltoday.co.kr reports that Bitcoin may have shifted from a bearish to a bullish phase after jumping 24% since August 17. CryptoQuant noted that price briefly hit $80,000, the highest level since May 15, driven by fiscal and political developments. These drivers include the U.S. Treasury doubling long-term Treasury buyback operations to at least $4 billion and President Donald Trump mentioning potential government Bitcoin purchases.

Demand indicators support this shift, with spot demand growth reaching its fastest pace since last December. For the first time since October 2025, spot and futures demand rose simultaneously, signaling expanding apparent demand in the spot market. Historical data shows that after such indicators turn, gains continue with a 78% probability and a median rise of 23%.

However, selling pressure is rising as investors secure large unrealized profits. Whale investors with short-term holding tendencies realized $1.2 billion in profits between August 20 and 22 while Bitcoin traded between $78,000 and $79,000. Exchange deposits for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and altcoins have surged, with Bitcoin and Ethereum deposits reaching their highest levels since June. CryptoQuant identifies the 365-day moving average at $83,000 as the critical level to confirm entry into a new bull market.

Bitcoin is trading at $79,023.75 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 42.1% and a 4-hour buy ratio of 47.1%, compared to a 24-hour buy ratio of 49.9%. This indicates that buying pressure is fading in the shorter timeframes relative to the daily average. The 1-hour volume delta is -$14,351,534 and the 4-hour volume delta is -$19,235,282, showing that more volume is being sold than bought in the immediate term. The 24-hour volume delta is -$903,088, with a Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) of -$79,368,911, confirming net selling pressure over the day. Only 9 out of 24 hours saw net buying, suggesting a lack of sustained demand at current levels.

The latest daily buy ratio of 46.7% sits at the 18th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.2% - weaker buying than most days.

Spot volume for the 24-hour period is $1,148,236,056, which is 0.54 times the weekly average, indicating significantly lower trading activity. While the weekly volume delta was positive at +$445,688,281, the current negative daily delta suggests a reversal in momentum. This is an unusual day for the coin, characterized by lower volume and weaker buying ratios compared to the sustained buying seen in the prior week.
