CZ predicts Bitcoin surpasses gold at $1 million

Bitcoin (BTC) Editor: Eugene Serbin

digitaltoday.co.kr reports that Binance founder Changpeng Zhao stated Bitcoin will reach $1 million faster than anticipated. Speaking at the "Bitcoin Asia" event in Hong Kong on August 27, Zhao claimed the asset would eventually outstrip gold in market capitalisation. He argued that nations delaying Bitcoin adoption risk falling behind, comparing the risk to neglecting artificial intelligence technology.

Zhao noted that Bitcoin rose approximately 12 percent over the previous seven days, reaching a high of $81,160 before settling near $80,520. This price movement followed reports that the U.S. Treasury would double its buyback operations, weakening the dollar. Bitcoin's current market capitalisation stands at $1.6 trillion, significantly below gold's $32.2 trillion.

Zhao emphasized that large countries will eventually recognize Bitcoin as a superior asset. He added that while national adoption will take time, it is inevitable.

Whalio data shows Bitcoin trading at $80,249.58 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 45.2%, indicating that buying pressure is currently fading compared to earlier periods. The 1-hour buy ratio sits at just 23.7%, while the 4-hour ratio is 39.8%, suggesting a short-term shift toward selling dominance. Volume deltas reflect this imbalance, with a negative $42.6 million recorded in the last hour and a negative $36.8 million over four hours. Over the full day, the volume delta reached -$123.1 million, confirming that sellers are outweighing buyers. The Cumulative Volume Delta closed at -$109.6 million, further highlighting the net outflow of capital. Only 8 out of 24 hours saw net buying, underscoring the recent bearish sentiment.

This selling pressure contrasts with the preceding week, where the average buy ratio was 51.1%, making today's 45.2% reading notably lower. The daily volume of $1.3 billion is only 0.65 times the weekly average, indicating significantly reduced activity compared to recent norms. While the coin gained 9.9 percent over eight days, the current flow represents a deceleration from that trend. The weekly volume delta was positive at $171.6 million, whereas today's negative delta marks a reversal in momentum. This suggests the current session is an unusual day of consolidation after a period of stronger accumulation.
