Polymarket Files for Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana Price Contracts in US

Bitcoin (BTC) Editor: Eugene Serbin

CoinGape.com reports that Polymarket US has filed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to list Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana price contracts. This regulatory move follows the acquisition of QCEX, which allows Polymarket to re-enter the US market. QCEX self-certified a new set of crypto price event contracts under federal regulations, clearing the path for listings as soon as August 28.

These products are binary options where traders bet on whether an asset’s price will trade above or below a specific level at a given time. Unlike leveraged perpetual futures, the contracts are fully collateralized $1 instruments that settle using CF Benchmarks data rather than a single exchange print. Bitcoin recently fell below $78K due to hot PCE inflation data but recovered to reclaim $80,000 with a 2% jump and 5% volume increase.

BlackRock’s digital assets head Robert Mitchnick stated that “Bitcoin’s macro case is strengthening with growing US debt and fiscal concerns.” Ethereum also rose 3% to $2,505 with a 24% volume surge, while Solana surpassed $100 after a 7% jump. Polymarket participants currently believe Ethereum will not dip to $1,750 again this year.

Bitcoin is trading at $79,023.75 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 45.5% and a 4-hour buy ratio of 47.1%, both below the 24-hour ratio of 49.9%. This indicates that buying pressure is fading in the short term compared to the daily average. The 1-hour volume delta is -$4,442,654 and the 4-hour delta is -$19,235,282, showing net selling activity. The 24-hour volume delta is -$903,088, confirming that sellers are currently outweighing buyers on a daily scale. A negative volume delta means that more volume is occurring on sell-side trades than buy-side trades. Despite this, spot volume remains high at $1,148,236,056 with over 4.2 million trades.

The latest daily buy ratio of 46.7% sits at the 18th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.2% - weaker buying than most days.
