Warren Buffett Steps Down as Berkshire Hathaway Chairman

Bitcoin (BTC) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptocurrency.com.tr reports that Warren Buffett has formally stepped down as chairman of Berkshire Hathaway after more than 60 years. He now holds the title of Chairman Emeritus while remaining on the board. His son, Howard G. Buffett, succeeds him as chairman, while Greg Abel continues as CEO.

In a farewell letter, the 96-year-old stated the timing was right to complete the transition. He praised Abel for taking full control of day-to-day decisions. Buffett described his son as the guardian of the company’s culture and values.

This retirement marks the end of the active career of one of Bitcoin’s most persistent skeptics. The Oracle of Omaha has long dismissed the asset as speculative and lacking intrinsic value. His 2018 description of Bitcoin as “probably rat poison squared” remains a famous anti-BTC quote.

Bitcoin is trading at $80,883.87 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 54.1%, indicating a majority of volume is buying. However, the 1-hour buy ratio has dropped to 43.1%, showing that short-term buying pressure is fading compared to the daily average. The 4-hour buy ratio sits at 50.3%, suggesting a balance between buyers and sellers in the medium term. Volume delta reflects this shift, with a positive $153 million over 24 hours but a negative $2.9 million in the last hour. This means that while net buying has been strong recently, immediate flow has turned slightly negative. The cumulative volume delta closed at -$20 million, indicating that recent large trades have been net sellers despite the higher buy ratio.

The latest daily buy ratio of 46.7% sits at the 18th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.2% - weaker buying than most days.

The price rose 4.7% over the 8-day period, supported by a total volume delta of +$337 million. This week shows a consistent trend of net buying that has now accelerated slightly in the last 24 hours.
