Whale resumes BTC buying after 8-month pause

Bitcoin (BTC) Editor: Eugene Serbin

lookonchain.com reports that a crypto whale has returned to buying Bitcoin following an eight-month absence from the market. The investor previously liquidated 50,600 ETH at an average price of $2,921 late last year, securing approximately $19.02 million in profits. After this hiatus, the whale swapped $14.2 million in USDC for 179.8 BTC via THORChain at an average cost of $78,955.

The entity remains active in the market, currently holding roughly $74.32 million in USDC. Jiang Zhuoer suggests that Bitcoin may first rally to $84,000 before experiencing a pullback to $72,000. On-chain profit structures indicate the market is nearing the early stages of a bull cycle, though downside risks persist.

Other notable movements include a $PEPE whale transferring 2.1 trillion tokens worth $52 million after 600 days of dormancy. Additionally, a trader capitalized on Binance's new listings to profit $448,000. OpenAI has partnered with Samsung on next-generation chip R&D, while Anthropic seeks investment-grade ratings ahead of its IPO. The OTC market cap for Anthropic is currently quoted at $2.327 trillion.

Bitcoin is trading at $78,455.80, with the one-hour buy ratio at 53.7% indicating immediate buying pressure. This contrasts with the four-hour buy ratio of 49.1%, suggesting that recent momentum is stronger than the broader short-term trend. The one-hour volume delta is positive at $2,466,829, meaning more money is flowing into buys than sells in the short term. Conversely, the 24-hour volume delta is -$168,399,753, reflecting a net outflow of capital over the last day. The cumulative volume delta for the day closed at -$105,110,458, confirming that sellers dominated the session despite the recent spike in activity.

The latest daily buy ratio of 46.7% sits at the 18th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.2% - weaker buying than most days.
