Polkadot Proposes dotUSD Stablecoin With $5M Treasury Funding

Polkadot (DOT) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptocurrency.com.tr reports that Polkadot has proposed a $5 million treasury plan to fund the launch of its native stablecoin, dotUSD. The initiative is being handled through the OpenGov governance system, where DOT holders will vote on the creation of this stable-value asset. Referendum 1944 is currently on the ballot, allowing the community to decide if the network should adopt dotUSD.

The Polkadot Community Foundation submitted the idea for a community vote after it was initiated by ecosystem members. If approved, the proposal will consume approximately $5 million of the network’s treasury funds. The initial minting of dotUSD tokens would utilize roughly $2.5 million in funding.

Another $2.5 million in DOT would provide the initial liquidity for the new asset. This liquidity is intended to support a DOT and dotUSD trading pool on the Polkadot Asset Hub.
