Injective Co-Founder Expects U.S. INJ ETFs Before 2027
crypto-economy.com reports that Injective co-founder and CEO Eric Chen anticipates the launch of U.S. exchange-traded funds for INJ before 2027. Speaking at Korea Blockchain Week 2026, Chen stated that 2027 feels a little bit too far for the expected launch window. The network currently has two active U.S. ETF applications, specifically the 21Shares Injective ETF and the Canary Staked INJ ETF.
Both issuers originally filed in 2025 and submitted amended S-1 registration statements in September 2026. Chen’s optimism is supported by these concrete filings, though final approval remains with regulators. In August, Injective Institutional Services became an SEC-registered transfer agent to support securities ownership records.
The network also activated the Meridian upgrade on September 24 following governance approval. This upgrade moves tokenization and collateralization from pilots into live onchain activity. Additionally, the project has finalized its MiCA white paper for INJ for the European market. Chen noted that the transfer-agent registration is only the beginning of their U.S. licensing plans.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for INJ, measured when this story was written up on 5 October 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
Whalio’s Binance spot data for INJ shows a price of $7.64 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 45.0%. This buying pressure is lower than the 51.8% recorded over the last 4 hours, indicating that short-term momentum is fading relative to the immediate past. The 1-hour buy ratio sits at 46.9%, suggesting a slight stabilization but still below the 4-hour peak. Volume Delta reflects this shift, showing a net outflow of $24,007 in the last hour compared to a $62,161 net inflow over 4 hours. Over the full 24 hours, the market saw a net outflow of $658,121, with the Cumulative Volume Delta closing at -$194,091. These figures indicate that sellers have dominated the daily flow, despite the brief 4-hour period of net buying.
The latest daily buy ratio of 53.4% sits at the 91st percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.8% - among the strongest buying days it has had.
Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for INJ, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
The current 24-hour buy ratio of 45.0% is 4.8 percentage points below the 7-day average of 49.8%. This deviation marks a less typical day for the coin, as buying interest has weakened compared to the weekly norm. Volume activity has also slowed, with the 24-hour spot volume of $6,665,001 sitting at just 0.57 times the weekly average. Over the preceding 8 days, the coin experienced a total Volume Delta of -$1,068,742 and a price change of -1.9%. While there were 5 days of net buying in the past week, today’s metrics show a distinct pullback in both volume and aggressive buying pressure.
