Injective USDC becomes canonical standard for Cosmos ecosystem

Injective (INJ) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptobriefing.com reports that Injective has launched native USDC on its mainnet via Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol, filling the vacuum left by Noble’s exit from USDC issuance. Cosmos Hub, dYdX, and Skip:Go have adopted this new standard, creating a unified stablecoin rail for an ecosystem that previously relied on fragmented wrapped alternatives. dYdX, which processes over $4 billion in monthly derivatives volume, now settles all perpetual positions and margin accounts using this single canonical USDC. The integration utilizes Injective’s MultiVM Token Standard, allowing the same balance to work natively across EVM and Cosmos/Wasm environments without bridging.

Cosmos Hub and dYdX have committed to a minimum four-year adoption window, signaling long-term infrastructure support rather than a temporary fix. Skip:Go has also adopted Injective USDC as its default routing layer, with broader ecosystem adoption targeted for late August or early September 2026. A key economic feature is that transaction fees from Injective USDC activity will fund programmatic buybacks of ATOM, creating a direct link between stablecoin usage and Cosmos Hub’s native token demand.

This consolidation reduces cross-chain DeFi risks by eliminating the patchwork of bridged versions that historically plagued the sector. Circle’s aggressive expansion of USDC through CCTP supports this move by enabling native minting and burning across supported chains. The shift concentrates infrastructure control in Injective, introducing a single point of dependency for the broader Cosmos ecosystem.
