NEAR ETF Launches with $35.5M Inflows as Governance Proposal Targets Lower Inflation

NEAR Protocol (NEAR) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptocurrency.com.tr reports that Bitwise’s new spot NEAR ETF, NRR, opened on NYSE Arca on September 29, 2026, recording $35.5 million in first-day net inflows. The issuer stated the fund began with $36 million in assets under management and $15.1 million in trading volume on its debut day. This product provides U.S. investors with direct access to the token, which powers universal markets, privacy features, and user-owned AI.

However, the outlet notes that these initial figures describe the launch event rather than establishing lasting demand. Separately, a governance proposal aims to reduce the maximum annual issuance from 2.5% to 1.6%, though this change has not yet been approved or implemented. The report highlights that NEAR Intents activity signals adoption but does not prove that ETF flows directly caused network growth.

Bitwise described the ETF as the first spot NEAR exchange-traded product in the U.S. market. The data indicates that while the debut was strong, the market has not yet confirmed sustained interest in the asset.

Whalio’s spot data shows NEAR trading at $4.92 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 53.8%, indicating a majority of volume was buying pressure over the full day. However, shorter-term metrics show weakening momentum, with the 1-hour buy ratio dropping to 48.2% and the 4-hour ratio falling further to 41.7%. This decline in the buy ratio suggests that immediate buying pressure is fading compared to the broader daily trend. Volume delta reflects this shift, showing a net outflow of -$122,896 in the last hour and -$2,795,106 over four hours. Despite these short-term outflows, the 24-hour volume delta remains positive at +$6,229,095, with a cumulative CVD of +$4,117,727. Net buying occurred for only 10 of the 24 hours, and total spot volume reached $82,000,722 across 400,641 trades.

The latest daily buy ratio of 51.5% sits at the 77th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.7% - stronger buying than most days.

Over the preceding week, the average buy ratio was 48.5%, making the current 24-hour ratio of 53.8% an unusually high day for buying activity. The latest day shows a buy ratio 5.2 points higher than the weekly average, signaling stronger relative demand. Yet, volume was only 0.42 times the average, indicating that this increased buying pressure occurred on significantly lower participation. The week saw net buying for only 2 of 7 days, with a total volume delta of -$41,046,789. This contrasts with the positive 24-hour delta, highlighting that the recent buying spike is an outlier in a generally bearish weekly trend where the price has dropped 8.7% over eight days.
