Solana and JPMorgan partner on DvP settlement
ambcrypto.com reports that Solana is shifting from institutional ownership to actual infrastructure usage through a new partnership with JPMorgan. The Solana Foundation has launched Solana DvP, a system designed to settle transactions in seconds rather than the traditional one to two days. This mechanism ensures that both sides of a trade execute in a single transaction, providing immediate finality.
Unlike ETF flows, this move positions Solana as a network where institutions actively use the blockchain to settle assets. JPMorgan, a financial giant with roughly $880 billion in assets, played a critical role in designing the system. Circle has also supported this liquidity shift by recently minting another $750 million in USDC on Solana.
Data from AMBCrypto shows that tokenized-asset spot volume on Solana grew from $33 million to $8 billion, a 242x increase. Meanwhile, memecoin spot volume dropped from $260 billion in Q1 2025 to around $57 billion. This transition suggests Solana’s next growth phase will be driven by real network utilization and liquidity rather than speculation. A whale opening a $20 million SOL long after the launch indicates that institutions are moving from owning SOL to using it as an infrastructure layer.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for SOL, measured when this story was written up on 7 October 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
SOL is trading at $120.71 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 48.0%, indicating a near-even split between buyers and sellers. The 1-hour buy ratio is lower at 39.9%, while the 4-hour ratio sits at 50.4%, suggesting short-term selling pressure is slightly higher than the broader daily trend. Volume Delta reflects this imbalance, showing a net outflow of $1,906,961 in the last hour compared to a small net inflow of $195,114 over four hours. Over the full 24 hours, the Volume Delta is -$6,884,219, and the Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) closed at -$16,136,310. These figures indicate that sellers have dominated the recent flow, with net buying occurring for only 9 of the last 24 hours. Spot volume for the period reached $175,936,492 across 470,014 trades.
The latest daily buy ratio of 48.8% sits at the 27th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 50.0% - weaker buying than most days.
Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for SOL, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
The current 24-hour buy ratio of 48.0% is slightly below the 7-day average of 49.1%, marking a 1.0 point difference. Trading volume is also subdued, sitting at 0.71 times the weekly average. Over the preceding week, net buying occurred on only 2 of 7 days, and the total Volume Delta was -$21,169,906. This context suggests that today’s activity is consistent with a generally bearish weekly trend where selling pressure has outweighed buying. The price has changed only +1.3% over the 8-day period, reflecting this lack of strong directional momentum.
