Sopore paddy fire sparks suspicion; STX buys fade vs week

Stacks (STX) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Greaterkashmir.com reports that three stacks of paddy were destroyed by fire in Sopore on Saturday morning. The blaze occurred along the Brath–Saidpora Bypass road and gutted the straw stored after the current harvest. Ghulam Hassan Dar, a resident of Saidpora, suffered the complete loss of his paddy stacks.

Local farmers suspect miscreants deliberately set the fire, causing concern in the community. The owner and nearby residents have urged authorities to investigate the cause thoroughly. They want to identify those responsible if the allegations of mischief prove true.

Dar has appealed to the administration for suitable compensation to cover the financial hardship. Police reached the scene and took cognizance of the incident while investigations continue.
