Stacks launches Bitcoin bond program to boost STX demand

Stacks (STX) Editor: Eugene Serbin

tradersunion.com reports that Stacks is introducing a new mechanism to generate on-chain returns for Bitcoin holders without bridge risk. The network utilizes Proof of Transfer to lock BTC in time-addresses controlled by holders while requiring a lock of STX worth 5% of the Bitcoin position. These bonds last approximately six months and distribute weekly rewards in BTC, with an initial target yield of 3% annually.

Stacks has distributed over 4,200 BTC through PoX since January 2021, valued at more than $500 million. The Stack Sats incentive program runs from Sept. 16 to Dec. 10, distributing one BTC monthly across Bitflow and Zest. This structure creates direct demand for STX, which also covers network fees and traditional stacking.

Annual token emissions sit at about 2%, meaning adoption must outpace supply for price support. The model aims to deepen liquidity in pairs like sBTC/USDCx and STX/USDCx. The success of the network depends on whether users and liquidity remain after the rewards conclude.
