Bitget Hack Proceeds Migrate to Tron as Freezes Remain Minimal

TRON (TRX) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptotimes.io reports that funds from the $387.5 million Bitget hack are actively moving to the Tron blockchain one week after the breach. Blockchain tracker MistTrack identified an address linked to the attacker swapping 100,000 DAI for USDT on Uniswap and bridging the assets to Tron via USDT0. Once on Tron, the funds were converted into USDD and TRX on SunSwap, indicating ongoing laundering of existing proceeds rather than new theft.

Earlier activity saw approximately 4 BTC enter a Wasabi CoinJoin mix, while large holdings of ETH and XRP have largely been liquidated since September 25. Stablecoin issuers Circle and Tether have frozen a combined $318,000, representing just 0.08% of the total disclosed loss. This minimal freeze occurred because most freezable assets were swapped into ETH or AVAX within 41 minutes of the initial transfer.

By September 29, Bitquery noted that XRP Ledger balances had dropped to dust, with 90.5% of stolen XRP swapped for Bitcoin. The attacker’s cluster also utilized address poisoning, receiving over 100 dust transfers on BNB Chain to confuse transaction histories. Despite NEAR Intents rejecting $50 million in swaps, protocol-level actions remain limited, with THORChain declining to refuse service to attacker-linked addresses.

Whalio data shows TRX trading at $0.3374 with a 24-hour buy ratio of 57.1%, indicating that buying pressure has been dominant over the full day. However, the 1-hour buy ratio dropped sharply to 13.7%, and the 4-hour ratio fell to 30.8%, suggesting that immediate buying momentum is fading compared to the daily average. The 24-hour volume delta is positive at $5,210,436, meaning net buying has exceeded selling over the longer timeframe. In contrast, the 1-hour volume delta is negative at -$1,712,876, showing that recent trades have been dominated by sellers. This divergence indicates that while the day ended with net accumulation, the most recent hour saw a significant shift toward distribution. The cumulative volume delta (CVD) closed at -$2,188,744, reflecting that despite the high buy ratio, the final price action or trade size distribution resulted in a net negative delta for the period.

The latest daily buy ratio of 49.7% sits at the 33rd percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 52.4% - ordinary for this coin.

Over the preceding week, TRX exhibited a 7-day average buy ratio of 49.1%, meaning today’s 57.1% reading is 8.1 points above the weekly norm. Spot volume for the day reached $36,499,168, which is 1.38 times the weekly average, marking this as an unusually active trading day. While the coin saw net buying on 3 of the past 7 days, today’s activity stands out due to the elevated volume relative to its baseline. The 8-day price change was -1.4%, showing that despite the unusual volume and higher buy ratio, the price has remained slightly suppressed over the longer term. This context suggests that today’s trading activity was significantly more intense than usual, even as the broader weekly trend remained mildly bearish.
