Tether Freezes $39M USDT in Xinbi-Linked TRON Wallets

TRON (TRX) Editor: Eugene Serbin

coinedition.com reports that Tether froze $39.27 million in USDT across ten TRON addresses linked to Xinbi Guarantee on September 8. Blockchain-monitoring firm MistTrack confirmed the wallets held 39,273,713 USDT at the time of the freeze. This action follows a previous freeze involving wallets associated with Huione Guarantee, another Telegram-based escrow service.

The addresses are part of a network accused of facilitating illicit cryptocurrency activity, including scams and money laundering. Xinbi Guarantee emerged around 2022 as a marketplace connecting merchants with services linked to these activities. Blockchain investigators estimate that Xinbi-linked wallets processed nearly $24 billion in USDT, with most transactions occurring on TRON.

The UK sanctioned Xinbi in March over alleged links to scam compounds and human rights abuses. Tether can blacklist addresses through its USDT contracts, preventing those wallets from transferring tokens. This highlights the issuer’s centralized control over the stablecoin. Tether had not explained the freeze or confirmed a law-enforcement request as of publication.
