TRON stablecoin supply hits $94.27 billion as USDT dominance grows

TRON (TRX) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptobriefing.com reports that TRON has added approximately $4.8 billion in stablecoin market capitalization over the past 90 days. By early September, the network’s USDT supply reached an all-time high of roughly $94.27 billion, surpassing Ethereum’s $78.7 billion by a widening gap of more than $9 billion. This growth is driven by the low costs of the TRC-20 standard, which attracts high-frequency remittance users and merchants in emerging markets.

TRON now commands approximately 28-29% of the global stablecoin market share, processing an average of $23 billion daily in stablecoin transactions. The volume is primarily generated by peer-to-peer transfers and cross-border remittances rather than DeFi speculation. Over the full year to date, TRON’s stablecoin supply has surged by an estimated $12 billion, indicating an established trajectory rather than a temporary spike.

The network’s dominance reshapes perceptions of value, positioning TRON as a cheap and reliable settlement layer compared to Ethereum’s composability or Solana’s trading speed. However, the network faces concentration risk as its relevance hinges almost entirely on Tether’s USDT. If regulatory action targets Tether or if it favors another chain, TRON could see a rapid shift in its market position. Circle’s USDC has a minimal footprint on TRON, leaving little natural backup for the ecosystem.

In contrast, the 1-hour buy ratio is 47.4% and the 4-hour ratio is 38.2%, suggesting that buying pressure is currently fading in the short term.
