Arthur Hayes Buys 244,406 UNI as Uniswap Pushes Fees Into v4
bitcoinethereumnews.com reports that BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes purchased 244,406 UNI for approximately $1.73 million. The acquisition occurred through Flowdesk’s OTC operation at an average price of roughly $7.06 per token. This transaction links Hayes to a wallet previously identified with him just as Uniswap expands its fee system.
Since December 2025, fees from v2 and selected v3 pools have been used to burn UNI permanently from circulation. The UNIfication governance overhaul routes collected fees into on-chain contracts where participants claim assets by supplying UNI. Uniswap Labs activated these fees across 11 chains in July, including Ethereum, Base, and Arbitrum.
The protocol recently set a record by burning 186,000 UNI in a single day. Governance is now considering bringing this economic model into Uniswap v4. Hayes exited his Hyperliquid and NEAR positions in June but recently forecast $10,000 Ethereum by year-end.
He bases this outlook on the expectation that expanding dollar liquidity will lift higher-beta crypto assets. UNI remains a governance token where holders do not receive a direct pro-rata claim on protocol revenue.
