OUSD Stablecoin Launches on Uniswap With Visa Backing

Uniswap (UNI) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptowisser.com reports that the Uniswap team announced via X on Wednesday that OUSD from Open Standard is now live on the platform. This new stablecoin for global money movement is supported by over 200 partners, including major entities like Visa, Mastercard, Coinbase, and Stripe. Uniswap serves as a critical execution layer for OUSD, securing millions in liquidity from its first day.

Uniswap Labs is collaborating with OpenStandard to develop a new v4 hook designed to programmatically distribute OUSD rewards to liquidity providers. The protocol operates as an automated liquidity system on Ethereum, requiring no order book or centralized party. It functions as an automated market maker, a model that launched in November 2018 but has seen significant popularity due to the DeFi surge.

Uniswap aims to maintain open, automated token trading while improving efficiency compared to traditional exchanges. By solving liquidity issues with automated solutions, it avoids the problems that affected earlier decentralized exchanges. The native UNI token was reported to be trading at $9.09, up 3.2% in the last 24 hours at the time of writing.

UNI is currently trading at $8.98 on Binance spot, showing a shift in short-term momentum compared to the longer trend. The 1-hour buy ratio sits at 39.7%, indicating immediate selling pressure, while the 4-hour ratio is neutral at 50.1%. However, the 24-hour buy ratio remains higher at 56.2%, suggesting that buying pressure has been building over the day. Volume delta data reflects this divergence, with a negative $280,128 in the last hour contrasting against a positive $32,893 over four hours. Over 24 hours, the volume delta is strongly positive at $7,896,725, with cumulative buying pressure closing at $1,721,916. This indicates that while recent trades show some profit-taking, the daily trend is dominated by net buying activity.

The latest daily buy ratio of 45.7% sits at the 13th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.2% - weaker buying than most days.

The current 24-hour buy ratio of 56.2% is notably higher than the 7-day average of 49.6%, showing a 6.6-point increase in buying intensity. Despite this elevated ratio, the 24-hour spot volume of $63,970,702 is only 0.78x the weekly average, indicating lower-than-normal participation. Net buying occurred on 4 of the past 7 days, with a total 8-day volume delta of $3,378,380. The price has declined 1.8% over the last 8 days, contrasting with the recent short-term buy ratio spike. This suggests that while buying pressure has intensified today, it has not yet been sufficient to reverse the weekly downtrend.
