Safe Wallet Loses $7.73M in rsETH After Malicious Uniswap v4 Hook Route
cryptocurrency.com.tr reports that approximately 2,900 rsETH, valued at $7.73 million, was removed from Safe wallet 0x40E93a52F6Af9fCD3b476aeDADD7FeABD9f7AbA8 at 04:38:47 UTC on September 15. The loss occurred via a transaction involving a malicious Uniswap v4 hook route recorded on Etherscan. Blockaid stated that a public keeper multicall routed an authorised custom Uniswap v4 LP Safe module into an attacker-created hooked pool.
This hook converted aEthrsETH into transferable rsETH within the pool. The reported account characterised the incident as a permissions issue involving a custom module rather than a compromise of the wallet’s owners. Defimon Alerts said the MEV bot Yoink captured the extracted rsETH in the same block.
Blockaid’s reconstruction, cited by The Crypto Times, described the multicall as public and the invoked LP module as already authorised. This allowed the call to be directed toward the attacker-created pool. Defimon Alerts identified 0xC70f00CD7E461686b04B0E912E309becA8b80ea0 as the recipient of the main proceeds.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for UNI, measured when this story was written up on 16 September 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
UNI is trading at $6.37 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 40.8%, which is lower than the 47.2% seen over the past 4 hours. This suggests that buying pressure is fading in the short term compared to the immediate past. The 24-hour buy ratio stands at 48.6%, indicating a near-even split between buyers and sellers over the last day. Volume delta is negative across all timeframes, with -$278,436 in the last hour and -$432,438 over four hours. This negative delta means that sell volume has exceeded buy volume during these periods. Over 24 hours, the volume delta is -$2,016,393, confirming sustained selling pressure relative to buying.
The latest daily buy ratio of 45.7% sits at the 13th percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 49.2% - weaker buying than most days.
Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for UNI, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
The 24-hour buy ratio of 48.6% is slightly below the 7-day average of 48.2%, showing a marginal shift toward selling. However, spot volume of $71,105,407 is 1.53 times the weekly average, indicating unusually high activity. This elevated volume contrasts with the 7-day volume delta of -$16,769,430, which shows net selling over the longer period. Only 2 of the past 7 days saw net buying, suggesting selling has been the dominant trend recently. The price has dropped 5.8% over the last 8 days, reflecting this broader bearish context.
