World Money Stablecoin Launch Drives WLD Price Surge

Worldcoin (WLD) Editor: Eugene Serbin

startupfortune.com reports that Sam Altman’s World launched World Money, a self-custodial stablecoin app, on September 17, 2026. Built by Tools for Humanity and integrated into the existing World App, the service operates in over 150 countries and offers payments, trading, and an Earn yield program. The launch features Stripe-powered on-ramps allowing US users to convert Apple Pay funds into stablecoins quickly.

World ID biometric verification is now embedded directly into the app to boost Earn rewards. WLD token price jumped more than 15% to roughly $0.4274 within a day of the announcement. Trading volume reached $303 million in 24 hours according to CryptoRank.io data.

The app includes a Trade tab for assets like gold and established tokens, with yield powered by Morpho. On-ramp infrastructure utilizes Bridge, which Stripe acquired for $1.1 billion in 2025. This move distinguishes World Money by placing identity verification inside the financial product rather than as a standalone app. The token gained utility beyond speculation by being available for staking and holding within the live payments app.

WLD is currently trading at $0.4246 on Binance spot markets. The 24-hour buy ratio stands at 50.8%, indicating a slight edge for buyers over sellers. However, the 1-hour buy ratio is 50.2% and the 4-hour ratio is 48.5%, suggesting that immediate buying pressure is weakening compared to the daily average. The 24-hour volume delta is positive at $864,068, showing net accumulation over the day. In contrast, the 1-hour volume delta is slightly positive at $4,889, while the 4-hour delta is negative at -$104,240. This divergence implies that while the day has seen net buying, recent short-term flow has turned slightly bearish.

The latest daily buy ratio of 50.7% sits at the 74th percentile of the last 324 days, against a median of 49.3% - stronger buying than most days.
