Stellar Soroban SDK v28 Upgrade Supports Protocol 28

Stellar (XLM) Editor: Eugene Serbin

u.today reports that the Soroban SDK has received a new upgrade with the release of version 28. This release supports Protocol 28, which launched on the Stellar mainnet on September 16. The Soroban SDK is a Rust-based software development kit used to write smart contracts for Stellar's platform.

The upgrade introduces features such as Spec Shaking v2, contract data migration, and sparsely published events. A key change allows stored contract data to no longer be locked into the shape originally written. This update brings faster consensus and a safer way to migrate contract data for fleets of contracts.

Stellar is currently celebrating its 11th anniversary, having launched on September 30, 2015. The network has recently passed 22,000 RWA holders. Tomer Weller, head of product at the Stellar Foundation, noted that this date marks the anniversary of the new network. He clarified that the old network launched a year earlier in 2014 with the currency Stellars and ticker STR.
