Dragonfly Partner Qureshi Proposes Zcash Development Fund End After 2028

Zcash (ZEC) Editor: Eugene Serbin

Lookonchain.com reports that Haseeb Qureshi, managing partner at Dragonfly, has proposed that the Zcash Development Fund cease operations after its 2028 expiry. Qureshi stated in a post that this should be the final iteration of the fund, noting its current size is sufficient for remaining development work. He warned that as the fund approaches $100 million, it risks becoming politicized.

Per ZecStats data, the fund holds 63,962 ZEC worth approximately $95 million at press time. This proposal follows a surge in the fund's value driven by recent ZEC price gains. Conversely, Paradigm founder Matt Huang argued the fund remains critical due to rising AI-powered cyberattacks and quantum computing advances.

Others in the industry also support retaining the development fund. The debate highlights a split between fiscal caution and long-term security needs. Qureshi believes the current accumulation phase is the last necessary one. The fund's future trajectory now faces scrutiny from both supporters and critics.
