Ledger Adds Private Zcash Support as ZEC Rises 84%

Zcash (ZEC) Editor: Eugene Serbin

cryptocurrency.com.tr reports that Ledger has enabled Zcash holders to store private balances directly within its Ledger Wallet desktop application. This update arrives while Zcash is trading 84% higher than its value one month prior. Ledger produces hardware wallets that store crypto keys offline, and previously users required a separate third-party app to hold private ZEC.

These private funds are only visible if they reside in Ironwood, the new privacy pool launched by Zcash in July. Ironwood replaced the older pool after researcher Taylor Hornby identified a flaw there. Ledger Chief Technology Officer Charles Guillemet confirmed that private data remains on the user's computer.

He stated, "Privacy here is not a server setting. To keep your shielded balance private, the scanning and the transaction building happen on your machine." Guillemet added that the unified viewing key is stored locally and never shared with anyone, including Ledger. The update allows for a more integrated experience for users of the Ironwood pool.

Zcash is currently trading at $1,630.05 with a 1-hour buy ratio of 50.9% and a 4-hour buy ratio of 49.9%. These short-term figures are slightly lower than the 24-hour buy ratio of 53.7%, indicating that immediate buying pressure is fading relative to the daily average. The 1-hour volume delta is positive at $143,688, while the 4-hour delta is negative at -$13,396. Volume delta measures the net difference between buy and sell volume; a positive number means buyers are more aggressive than sellers, while a negative number means sellers are dominating. Over the last 24 hours, the total volume delta is +$34,927,824, showing that net buying has outweighed selling over the full day. Despite this net buying, the Cumulative Volume Delta at the 24-hour close is -$6,576,415, suggesting that recent selling pressure has offset earlier buying.

The latest daily buy ratio of 52.9% sits at the 82nd percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 50.2% - stronger buying than most days.
