Zcash ETF launches as social hype fades
Tremplin.io reports that Zcash experienced a sharp rally followed by a correction after the launch of its first US-listed ETF. The price surged approximately 72% between August 18 and 23, reaching $878, driven by social media mentions that peaked at 232 on August 22. Grayscale launched the Zcash ETF under the ticker ZCSH on NYSE Arca on August 25, but market discussion returned to average levels by that date.
The price has since corrected by around 10%, trading near $789, indicating the event was largely priced in. The product allows US investors to gain exposure without managing private keys, though Grayscale charges a 2.5% annual fee. Grayscale Research compares Zcash to Bitcoin due to its 21 million maximum supply and proof of work mechanism.
They believe growing demand for privacy could elevate Zcash's status, despite Bitcoin's dominant adoption. Zcash recently recovered from a 60% drop in June caused by a critical flaw in its Orchard pool. The Ironwood upgrade in July further strengthened the system before this ETF launch.
How the market reacted
Whalio's own Binance spot order flow for ZEC, measured when this story was written up on 30 August 2026. Not the outlet's figures.
Zcash is currently trading at $841.60, with a 24-hour buy ratio of 56.2% and a positive volume delta of $14,784,769. Short-term pressure shows a 1-hour buy ratio of 37.7% and a negative volume delta of -$1,033,659, while the 4-hour buy ratio is 49.2% with a negative delta of -$468,448. The buy ratio indicates the percentage of trades executed by buyers, showing that longer-term activity is more bullish than immediate activity. Volume delta measures the net value of buy volume minus sell volume, where a negative figure means sellers dominated that specific period. The shift from positive 24-hour flows to negative short-term deltas suggests immediate selling pressure after a period of net buying.
The latest daily buy ratio of 52.9% sits at the 82nd percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 50.2% - stronger buying than most days.

Was that an ordinary day?
The same Binance spot measurements for ZEC, averaged over the days leading up to the story.
Over the preceding week, Zcash saw a 7-day average buy ratio of 49.6% and a price change of +4.9% over eight days. The latest day's buy ratio was 6.7 points higher than the weekly average, while volume was 0.50x the average. This indicates that while buying intensity increased on the most recent day, overall trading volume was half of what is typical. The weekly volume delta was positive at $10,039,689, contrasting with the immediate short-term outflows seen in the latest hourly data.
