Zcash ETF ZCSH Launches on NYSE Arca but EU Retail Buyers Blocked

Zcash (ZEC) Editor: Eugene Serbin

bitcoinethereumnews.com reports that Grayscale opened trading for the Zcash ETF (ZCSH) on NYSE Arca on August 25, 2026, marking the world’s first spot exchange-traded product with exposure to the privacy coin ZEC. The fund holds physical ZEC and relies on authorized participants like Jane Street and Virtu to keep the price aligned with net asset value, with custody held by Coinbase and administration by BNY. At launch, the fund held approximately 387,000 ZEC valued at roughly $300 million, charging an annual sponsor fee of 2.5 percent.

However, European retail investors face a barrier to entry because the US-listed product lacks a required Key Information Document (KID) mandated by the EU’s PRIIPs Regulation. Without this document, German brokers and neobrokers must reject buy orders, effectively blocking new positions for retail clients. DEGIRO confirms that US products are particularly affected by this rule, noting that while holding or selling existing shares remains possible, new purchases are no longer allowed.

The regulation requires a standardized document detailing risks and costs, but US providers like Grayscale often view producing these documents for the European retail market as a liability risk without sufficient return. Consequently, the product remains inaccessible to ordinary German brokerage accounts until the documentation gap is resolved.

Zcash is trading at $800.45 with a 24-hour spot volume of $151,772,477. The 1-hour buy ratio stands at 48.9%, indicating a slight shift toward selling pressure compared to the 50.2% ratio seen over the 4-hour and 24-hour periods. Volume delta has turned negative in the short term, dropping -$54,584 in the last hour, whereas it was positive at +$74,919 over the past four hours. This suggests that immediate buying momentum is fading, even though the 24-hour cumulative volume delta remains strongly positive at +$699,620. The buy ratio measures the proportion of trades executed as buys versus sells, while volume delta tracks the net value of those trades, showing that larger buying pressure has occurred over the day but is currently receding.

The latest daily buy ratio of 52.9% sits at the 82nd percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 50.2% - stronger buying than most days.
