Zcash Speed Upgrade Drives 5% Price Gain

Zcash (ZEC) Editor: Eugene Serbin

bitcoinethereumnews.com reports that Zcash (ZEC) rose 5% following the unveiling of Zakura Common, a new open-source cryptography toolkit. The technology, developed by the Zakura team led by expert Sean Bowe, reduces private transaction creation times from over three seconds to under 200 milliseconds. This update allows mobile shielded transfers to process more than 14 times faster, while desktop speeds increase by over five times.

Sinsemilla hashing accelerated by a factor of 21, and zk-SNARK verification became four to eight times faster. The library operates independently of the core protocol, allowing wallets like Vizor Wallet to implement the changes immediately without a hard fork. Version 1.3.0 of Zakura already supports the proposed 25-second block interval for the upcoming NU7 upgrade.

This technology serves as a component of Project Tachyon, which aims for over 50,000 private transactions per second. Analyst seth_fin noted a breakout after ETF news and projected ZEC was on its way to $1000. The token appreciated to approach $839 before a minor retracement on Monday morning.

ZEC is currently trading at $835.29, showing a shift in short-term momentum compared to the 24-hour trend. The 1-hour buy ratio stands at 37.6%, and the 4-hour ratio is 39.3%, both significantly lower than the 52.0% buy ratio observed over the last day. This indicates that immediate buying pressure is fading relative to the recent daily average. Volume Delta reflects this shift, showing a net outflow of -$1,138,733 in the last hour and -$6,155,017 over four hours. In contrast, the 24-hour Volume Delta remains positive at +$6,094,943, suggesting that despite recent selling, net buying dominated the full day. The Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) closed at -$14,593 for the 24-hour period, indicating a slight net sell-off by the end of the session.

The latest daily buy ratio of 52.9% sits at the 82nd percentile of the last 322 days, against a median of 50.2% - stronger buying than most days.

Over the preceding week, the 7-day average buy ratio was 50.2%, making today's 24-hour ratio of 52.0% slightly above average by 1.9 points. However, spot volume has decreased to 0.77 times the weekly average, indicating lower participation than usual. While there were five days of net buying in the last week, the 8-day price change is -2.2%, and total Volume Delta is -$1,466,360. This suggests that despite today's relative strength in buy ratio, the broader weekly trend shows net outflows and price depreciation.
